David W. Baird is an Internet executive and web entrepreneur[1]. He was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and has a BA from the University of Toronto, an MA from Queen's University and an MBA from L'Ecole des Ponts (ENPC) in Paris.

Technology Career[edit]

His career in technology began when he joined Prodigy in 1993 where he was the Product Manager for the Money Channel, Prodigy's personal finance area. At the time, Prodigy offered the first online consumer stock quotes and the first online banking and stock trading services. He was hired by America Online in 1995 to expand their personal finance channel. America Online became the world's largest consumer finance site, offering stock quotes, databases of fundamental data, stock charts and news and commentary from sites such as The Motley Fool.

Baird became head of AOL's E-Commerce group in 1996, overseeing the Shopping, Travel, Personal Finance, Computing and Small Business channels as AOL grew to over 20 million subscribers.[2] In 2005, he founded Troubadour Digital Media, a digital and social media agency based in Santa Monica, CA. Troubadour designed and developed websites and mobile apps for clients such as Cat Cora and David Foster.

Writing[edit]

After leaving AOL, Baird published a novel, Living Inside My Head, [3], about the struggles of a rock band called The Dregs, which is available as an e-book.

Gigmor: Musicians' Network[edit]

In 2012, Baird founded Gigmor, a social network for musicians[4]. Gigmor matches musicians and bands based on location, genre, playing level and goals. Gigmor has become the leading social network for musicians and Baird was listed as one of Detail Magazine's Digital Mavericks in 2014.[5]
