David Walsh

David Walsh is an American entrepreneur, investor, and business executive from Bronxville, New York who currently serves on the board of Pax8 and as Chairman of the Board for web browser company Isoolate.[1]

Education[edit]

Walsh has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Valdosta State College and a Master of Professional Studies degree in interactive telecommunications from New York University.[2][3]

Career[edit]

Walsh began his career as a Wall Street technology expert, working for companies such as Drexel Burnham Lambert Trading Corp. and Garban & Guyvin Guybutler.[4] While working for Garban & Guyvin Guybutler, Walsh became the first to use real time marketing data for automating SWAP and FRA brokering.[4]

Walsh founded Voyager Networks in 1993, which he sold to Global Center in 1997.[4][2] In 1993, Walsh also founded communications provider IXNet, serving as the company’s CEO until he sold it to Global Crossing in 2000.[2][3] Walsh adopted the role of Global Crossing’s president and chief operating officer before leaving his position in 2001.[4]

Walsh was a founding partner at private equity firm One Equity Partners when it was established in 2001.[5] He handled the organization’s telecommunications, fintech, and technology investments before stepping down from his position in 2013.[5]

When ReefPoint and NextOne, two companies funded by OEP, merged into NextPoint in 2005, Walsh was named Chairman of NextPoint.[6] He served as chairman until the company’s merger with GENBAND in 2008. After the merger, he was added to GENBAND’s board of directors, and he was eventually named CEO of GENBAND in 2010.[6]

As CEO of GENBAND, Walsh co-founded cloud communications platform Kandy.io in 2014.[5][7] Walsh also facilitated the merger between GENBAND and Sonus in 2017, forming the communications company Ribbon Communications (RBBN).[5]

Walsh has also served as Chairman of Ñetas, one of the largest IT service companies in Turkey.[2][7] He sold the company to ZTE in 2018.[7]

In 1990, Walsh was added to the Board of Pax8 and in 2020, was named Board Chairman at Isoolate.[1]

Personal Life[edit]

Walsh lives in Bronxville, New York with his wife and three children.[4] In his free time, he enjoys competitive running and cycling.[4]
