David Yareboinen (born 1990/1991[1]) is a Papua New Guinean association football referee who represents his country at international level since 2013, when he was listed by FIFA.[2]

Career[edit]

Yareboinen refereed one game at the 2018 OFC Women's Nations Cup (New Zealand v. Cook Islands).[3]

In other major tournaments, Yareboinen took part in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, where he officiated as a support referee (fourth) in the United States v. Qatar group stage game.[4] He was a support referee in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup as well.[5]

Yareboinen is a prominent referee in the Oceania Confederation and refereed two consecutive finals of the OFC Champions League.[1] In 2022, Yareboinen refereed the final between A.S. Vénus and Auckland City FC in New Zealand,[6][7] while he refereed the final again in 2023, between Auckland City FC and Suva F.C. in Vanuatu.[1][8]

Yareboinen, who is the only international referee from Papua New Guinea as of the latest report from FIFA in 2022,[2] has said that he aspires to reach to referee a FIFA World Cup.[1]
