Story of this book runs like this: On account of Christmas, in a hotel in the marshland of Yorkshire, twenty friends meet. On that very day, to pass the time, in the drawing room of the hotel they were about to find out the murderer just to make fun of it. They assembled there for their own purposes. It was not to know each other. The game was on. Suddenly, they found one of them was no more alive. They were shocked by this sudden accident. Their game stopped all of a sudden. Police was informed about this sudden incident. The police station was far off. It was storming, and snow started to fall. On hearing the news, it would take no less than four hours to reach the spot. It was decided that out of the remaining nineteen people, one was surely responsible. But who was he? The nineteen people did not remain, instead of remaining sitting in the drawing room, asked the owner of the hotel to interrogate the 19 people about the crime committed. The hotel owner was successful in detecting the crime by asking all of them. At last, the truth came out from his interrogation.
