Currently, the college is providing training for more than 3500 trainees with 27 occupations categorized under 5 sectors or departments—Industry development, building construction, ICT and electro technology, Integrated land development & construction, and Road transport and construction. 101 trainers and 55 administration and support staff, with a total of 156 staff members. Daye polytechnic college is striving to achieve its vision, i.e., to become one of the best top ten polytechnic and satellite college in the country by the year 2025. From global and national policy perspectives, the provision of TVET is viewed as a necessary intervention in attempts to empower people, reduce poverty, and realize the sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The world is becoming a global village due to corporate transformation. Currently, the college has good opportunity to address this issue because the college has upgraded from construction and industrial college to polytechnic college level since last July, 2019, which gave us the opportunity to train from level I to VI and strive to serve the community at the optimum level.

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COLLEGE

The college was established and began training processes in half of 2004 E.C. Since then, the college has been offering technical and vocational education and training service for the local community through both formal and non-formal programs and also offering Industry extension service for SME in one city administration and seven woredas. Although the college had started its function in a limited number of occupations, with limited material and human resources, promising improvements have been observed over time, and its contribution to local development is enhancing. Because of its incremental institutional development plan achievements, its internal skilled human resources, training equipment and tools, and relatively good performance of infrastructural expansion projects of the college, which is invested by the regional and local government, the college developed from the status of TVET College to Polytechnic College this year on July, 2019.
