Early activism[edit]
Israel started volunteering at the age of 8 when he joined the Civil Liberty Organisation (CLO) around 1996/1997. At 12 he started the only child-led NGO in Nigeria at that time – General Action against the Violation of Human and Children's Rights – an organisation which led the campaign for the promotion of children's rights in Nigeria. As a result of this he was elected into the Nigerian Children's Parliament at the age of 14 and rose to the position of its Deputy Senate President until his retirement.[9]
At 16, He was appointed the Chairman of the Presidential Summit of Nigerian Children alongside leading the Nigerian Children delegation to the United Nations Special Session on Children in New York City[10]. He was also appointed as a one-day commissioner of Information in Lagos state in 2003.[11] In 2004, at age 18, Israel and his team of other young people single-handedly hosted the Annual Young General Assembly Annual Session in Nigeria with about 200 young people in attendance from all over the world. He also became the first African Student Council Chair of London Metropolitan University from 2007 to 2008.
He co-chaired the only children side event at the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa, alongside chairing the World Media Briefing at the UN Children World Water Forum in Japan. He has continued to chair various side events at the UN DPI/NGO Conference. He is a founding member of the British Council Connecting Future Forum.[12]

Bid for candidacy of All Progressives Congress[edit]
In 2017, Israel announced his aspiration for the Chairmanship seat of Lagos Mainland Local Government, in Lagos under the platform of the All Progressives Congress which is to be held on July 22, 2017.[14][15] He reiterated that his main reason for contesting it was to promote sustainable livelihood and also prompted by virtue of the Holy spirit.[16][7] However he didn't succeed as the All Progressives Congress decided to present consensus candidates for the election.[17] He has vowed not to contest for another local government post again.[18]
