DeSoto Records is an American record label based in Washington, D.C.[1]
History[edit]
Founded in 1989, it is run by husband and wife team Bill Barbot and Kim Coletta, both formerly of the band Jawbox.[2][3] It was first founded by members of the band Edsel to release their first single, "My Manacles". Jawbox next used the name DeSoto for their first EP. It has released over 40 records, 7" singles, CDs, and LP vinyl records. It is distributed by Fontana Distribution.
In 2002, the label decided to stop releasing new music and instead to focus only on its catalog.[4][5] They partnered with Dischord Records to re-release some of Jawbox's records.[1]
