Dead to Me is STEMM's debut album released in 2001 by Hessian Records and Streamline Productions. Dead to Me features a completely different sound when compared to the band's later albums, leaning more towards nu metal and hardcore rather than the metalcore and groove metal style featured in later material, i.e.; Songs for the Incurable Heart, Blood Scent, etc. This is the first and last album to feature vocalist Louis Penque, drummer Jimi Penque, and bassist Russ Martin.[1]

Touring and promotion

Despite being an independent band, STEMM had gone on a seven-month-long tour spanning from March of 2001 to September of 2001, playing in states such as Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.[2]

During this time, STEMM had released a sampler/promotional cassette limited to only 1000 copies to promote the upcoming album. They had also released another sampler/promotional CD titled "Live Again," including a newly recorded single and five live tracks[1]
