Dean Roy is a fourteen-year-old American high school student who is planning to run in the 2026 Vermont gubernatorial election.
Early life
Dean Roy was born and raised in Stowe, Vermont, where he currently lives. According to a The Free Press article, he enjoys Nordic skiing, runs cross country, and is a fan of Formula One; his favorite driver is Fernando Alonso.[1]
Political aspirations
According to Roy, the idea to run for Governor was planted when his eighth-grade teacher told him that she would be his campaign manager if he ever ran for Governor. Roy began to research and found that Vermont had no minimum age requirement to run for Governor. He gathered the required five hundred signatures to get his name on the ballot and founded the ‘Freedom and Unity Party.’ His campaign goals include consolidating school districts, taxing large corporations and short-term rentals, strengthening ties with Canada and the EU, and keeping Vermont free from all those who try to harm it.
