Dean Tellone (also known as Dino Tellone) is an American fiduciary financial planner, investment consultant, real estate portfolio strategist, and entrepreneur based in Anaheim, California. He is the founder, President, and CEO of Tellone Financial Services, an independent wealth management firm managing over $200 million in localized mortgage funds. He holds professional credentials as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and an Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA).
Education
Tellone attended the University of Arizona, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He pursued graduate business training at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), where he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
In 1985, he passed the Series 2 Non-Member General Securities Examination, expanding his regulatory scope into investment management. He subsequently completed the testing requirements to earn status as an Enrolled Agent (EA) with the Internal Revenue Service, granting him the statutory authority to represent individual and corporate taxpayers before the IRS during audits, collection proceedings, and administrative appeals.
Career
Corporate Finance
Tellone began his career at Teledyne Corporate Offices located in Century City, California. He entered the firm as a Financial Analyst before transferring into the corporate auditing sector, evaluating operational risk variables and internal control mechanisms. Throughout his 12-year tenure at Teledyne, he advanced into executive management, ultimately serving as the Director of Finance and Administration overseeing six separate administrative branches.
Tellone Financial Services
In 1975, Tellone founded Tellone Financial Services as an independent financial planning entity in Anaheim, California. The practice expanded its focus to combine alternative portfolio building, cash-flow diagnostics, tax preparation, asset allocation, and private real estate financing. Tellone incorporated the firm as Tellone Financial Services, Inc. in 1986. By 1992, the corporation acquired a commercial office complex within Anaheim Hills to house its primary corporate headquarters.
The firm specializes in underwritten private mortgage lines and asset protection structures, servicing a managed portfolio exceeding $200 million. Tellone also hosts a multi-platform financial broadcast called Mastering Finance with Dean Tellone, distributing regular commentaries surrounding capital gains treatments, tax compliance shifts, and macroeconomic retirement trends.
Philanthropy and Community Initiatives
Tellone coordinates community allocations via the Tellone Charitable Fund, which has distributed more than $132,800 to religious, medical, educational, and civic advocacy organizations. Primary beneficiaries of the fund include the San Antonio de Padua del Canon Church ($35,000), Catholic Charities of Orange County ($25,000), and the Investor Choice Advocates Network ($20,000).
