On May 24, 2026, 15-year-old Irish girl Abbie Pepper drowned while swimming in Howth, Dublin, Ireland.[1]

Death

On May 24, 2026, 15-year-old Abbie Pepper went missing at Burrow Beach, Sutton, after going for a swim with her friends on the beach.[2][3] Her body was discovered after a search for her involving Garda Síochána, the Irish Coast Guard, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).[4][5]

Aftermath and reaction

Many people gave their views on Pepper's death; most notably, Gavin Pepper, a Dublin City Council member and relative of Abbie, said that "I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Abbie Pepper in a tragic accident in Sutton yesterday."[6] It was even more heartbreaking to find out we are related."[7]

Funeral director Rom Massey & Sons said Abbie will be "sadly missed by her heartbroken family... school pals, relatives, neighbors, and friends."[8]

Personal life

At the time of her death, Abbie Carmody-Pepper was living in Ballymun.
