Yasin Börü (14 April 1998 – 7 October 2014) was a 16-year-old who was killed in 2014 in Diyarbakır, Turkey as a result of the 2014 Kurdish riots.[1]
Death[edit]
A demonstration was held in various provinces to protest the siege of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Kobanî, Aleppo Governorate, on the invitation of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) between 6-8 October 2014. On 7 October, the fourth day of the Feast of Sacrifice, Yasin Börü was in attendance at an event organized by demonstrators who were in close association with the Free Cause Party (HÜDA-PAR) in the Iskanevleri district of Diyarbakır. They were later attacked and Börü, together with Riyat Güneş, Ahmet Dadak and Hasan Gökgüz, were stabbed and shot by masked PKK sympathizers who threw them from the balcony and killed them.[2][3] During the riots, 46 people were killed in Turkey.
