After receiving her BFA in musical theater in 1977, Rothstein worked over the next 40 years mostly as an actress in theaters in California and for motion picture studios. She was also a voice actress in children's cartoons, anime, dubbing and children's theater.
In 2004, she created the interactive children's theater company A Faery Hunt, which won the Nickelodeon Parents' Pick Award for Best Children's Theater in Los Angeles and was named Best of Hollywood by The Hollywood Reporter, Best of LA by LA Parent and Los Angeles magazine. Its shows take place in outdoor spaces in Southern California. A few times a year A Faery Hunt presents shows indoors at the Sunset Theatre Company in Redondo Beach.
