December 2014 West Coast storm

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The December 2014 West Coast storm is a powerful storm that is expected to hit the West Coast of the United States on December 10, 2014 resulting in snow, wind, and flood watches.[1] The storm, fueled by the Pineapple Express (an atmospheric river originating in the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean adjacent to the Hawaiian Islands) is expected to be one of the strongest storms to affect California since the October 2009 storm.[2][3] Winds are expected to reach near-hurricane strength at 100 miles per hour (160 km/h)[4] while up to 8 inches (20 cm) of rainfall are expected over Northern California starting on the night of Wednesday December 10, 2014.[5][3]

Public schools will be closed on Thursday 11 December in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland and other school districts across the San Francisco Bay Area.[6]
