Decoration One is a Jordanian home décor and tableware brand based in Amman, Jordan. It was founded in 2010 by designer Susanne Baalbaki Tabbaa and her sisters Suha and Sally, and focuses on products that combine Arab and Islamic visual traditions with contemporary design for everyday use.[1][2]
The company designs and sells home accessories, tableware, decorations and gifts through its flagship store in Amman, and in a coastal boutique in Aqaba, and an online shop. They also design and create corporate gifts and design for large scale events and projects. They sell B2B mainly in the gulf region, as well as worldwide. Its products are frequently themed around Ramadan hosting, Arabic coffee culture and Islamic calligraphy.[3][4]
History
Decoration One was established in Amman in 2010 as a design‑led home décor and product company. Founder Susanne Baalbaki Tabbaa, working with her sisters Suha and Sally, developed the brand around modern interpretations of Arabic and Oriental design, drawing on Islamic geometry and calligraphy as recurring motifs.[1][3]
The company initially operated from a showroom in Amman before expanding its product range and retail footprint. By the 2020s, Decoration One had developed multiple collections of tableware, glassware and decorative objects and partnered with regional retailers and e‑commerce platforms to distribute its products beyond Jordan.
Products and design
Decoration One produces home accessories including tableware, trays, glassware, vases, incense burners and decorative objects. Many pieces incorporate elements associated with Arab domestic culture, such as Arabic coffee cups, minaret and dome motifs, and calligraphic inscriptions, rendered in materials such as porcelain, glass, metals and mother of pearl.[2][3]
The brand releases themed collections around Ramadan and other occasions, offering coordinated pieces for hosting and gifting. Its designs have been described as combining traditional Arab heritage with contemporary aesthetics and are positioned in the mid‑ to high‑end home décor segment.[4][5]
Stores
Decoration One operates a flagship showroom in the Wadi Saqra district of Amman.[3] In 2022, the company opened a boutique in Aqaba’s Ayla Marina Village, branded as its coastal collection, focused on seaside‑inspired lifestyle and home décor.[4][6]
The Aqaba store was designed in collaboration with architecture studio FADAA, using local stone, low‑carbon materials and a bio‑based concrete mashrabiya façade that incorporates recycled marine shells.[6][7]
Awards and recognition
The design of Decoration One’s Aqaba boutique has received several international design awards. The project won the Interior Design category of the Doha Design Award (also referred to as the Design Doha Prize) in 2024 and has been recognised in coverage of design in the Middle East and North Africa region.[8][6][9]
According to FADAA, the firm also received an IDA Gold Award for Retail for the Decoration One Amman project, and the Aqaba boutique contributed to its recognition in sustainable interior design awards.[10]
Decoration One’s Amman showroom has been listed as a shopping attraction and has received high traveller ratings on tourism and travel platforms.[3][4]
