Delta Lake is an open-source project promoted by Databricks that enables building a Lakehouse Architecture with compute engines including Spark, PrestoDB, Flink, Trino, and Hive and APIs for Scala, Java, Rust, Ruby, and Python.
Overview[edit]
Delta Lake is an open source project, written in Scala with APIs available in Scala, Java, Python, Rust and Ruby.
It provides APIs to read and write structured data with ACID transaction properties. It uses parquet format to store data to underlying storage like ADLS, S3, GCS and HDFS.
Developers[edit]
Delta Lake is developed by a community.
Delta Lake is an independent open-source project and not controlled by any single company. To emphasize this we joined the Delta Lake Project in 2019, which is a sub-project of the Linux Foundation Projects.[2]
