Democratic socialism
Democratic socialism is a political ideology that advocates the establishment of a socialist economic system through democratic principles and institutions. It supports political democracy alongside social ownership and democratic control of the means of production, often emphasising economic democracy, workers' self-management, civil liberties and political pluralism. Democratic socialism encompasses a variety of traditions, including revolutionary and reformist socialism, and differs from authoritarian models of socialism by placing democracy at the centre of its political and economic objectives. Although frequently associated with social democracy, democratic socialism generally seeks a transition beyond capitalism rather than its permanent reform.
