School areas
The school has two split playgrounds, 3 extensions, a large field, a woodland area, and easy access to parking areas and the local Denbury Multicourt, which is used for PE lessons. A path surrounds the field, adding easy walkways to the school.[citation needed]
Traditions
Denbury Primary School integrates children into the local community with many events which have been running for decades, such as the Harvest Festival, the Maypole Dancing at the Denbury May Fayre and procession, and the various school plays for parents at the Village hall and Church. Although the school is no longer religiously affiliated, the local church is used as a venue for larger events. [citation needed]
Public Appearances
Denbury School, its pupils, and headteacher, Jamie Stone, have appeared on BBC Spotlight, the local news for Devon, after budget cuts had been made and schools were struggling for funding, deciding to speak up about the problem for the whole of the school infrastructure. As part of a bulletin, one of their pupils was featured after having written a letter to the Prime Minister and other party leaders in an effort to convince them to make change. A film crew went to the school to film B-roll and an interview with the student and headteacher.[2]
