Denver Fashion Week (DFW), is a semi-annual, fashion week held in Denver, Colorado and produced by 303 Magazine. The weeklong event is held in both the spring and fall, and includes fashion showcases, model workshops and other events. It is officially recognized as the fashion week of the city of Denver and is Colorado's largest fashion event.[1]
History[edit]
Denver Fashion Week began in 2007 as Denver Fashion Night, co-founded by Denver hairstylist Charlie Price.[2] Over time, it evolved into Denver Fashion Weekend, and ultimately, Denver Fashion Week. In 2013, the event included two shows: Fashion and Body Art, and a Hair Show.[3] In 2015, the event featured four days: Streetwear, Local, National, and a Hair Show.[4]
In 2017, the event changed when it dropped the "end" from Denver Fashion Weekend, expanding into a full week, as well as partnering with Denver Arts & Venues and being recognized as the official fashion week of Denver.[5] Additionally, DFW introduced its first ever Children's Fashion Show.[6]
In spring 2019, DFW partnered with the Denver chapter of a the nonprofit, The One Club for Creativity to incorporate the Paper Fashion Show as a night of event that season.[7]
In the 2022 event, Dress for Success was featured as the nonprofit partner. On the Lifestyle night of the event, arts and entertainment group Meow Wolf debuted a collection inspired by its Denver installation location; Convergence Station. The collection was designed and created by character and costume designer Kate Major using trash and reused materials.[8]
In the 2023 spring season, the event included Local Couture, Kids Couture, Sustainable, Fashion Industry Workshop, Ready To Wear, Streetwear & Sneakers, Guided By Humanity Fashion Show and International/Local Boutiques.[9]
Fall 2023 will be the latest season of Denver Fashion week. It will once again be partnering with Guided by Humanity.[10]
