In the summer of 2011, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) signed Manderson to a one-year, two-way contract, and he attended the AHL team's 2011 training camp before suiting up with the Wheeling Nailers for the 2011–12 ECHL season.[1]

On August 8, 2014, Manderson signed a one-year AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies.[2] He was assigned to ECHL affiliate, the Orlando Solar Bears to begin the 2014–15 season, an as an alternate captain contributed with 50 points in 52 games to be named as the Solar Bears MVP for the season. Manderson was recalled by the Marlies to feature in 20 games in the AHL, posting 3 assists.
