Early Life[edit]

Derek Black was born in the year of 1989 and grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. His parents are Don Black and Chloe Black. Derek Black was in a public school until third grade, when his parents took him out of school. The reason for his parents taking him out of school was because his black teacher said the word “ain’t". Instead of attending the public school he was homeschooled and his education was centered on his family’s beliefs.

While he was being homeschooled it gave his father and him to become closer. Don Black was able to take Derek Black with him to conferences to get him more involved with their family beliefs.

At 10 years old Derek Black learned web coding, which later helped him create the Stormfront site for children with similar ideas to him. He would receive emails that would express their feeling towards him for creating the Stormfront site for children. His father Don Black would tell him not to look at the messages, but Derek Black mentioned that he wasn’t bothered by what they were sending him.

After finishing high school he enrolled in a community college. While in the community college he decided to run for a seat in the Republican committee. At 19 years old he won a seat in the Republican committee of 111 seats, with about 60 percent of the votes. The committee refused to seat him because he failed to take his oath.

He later decided that he had the interest to study medieval European history, so he then went to New College of Florida in Sarasota. It was one of the top-ranked liberal arts school with a strong program. The college was about three hours across the state and it was Derek’s first time away from his home.

Beliefs[edit]

According to Derek Black beliefs, life as we know it had taken place within the insular world of white nationalism where there was never doubt about what whiteness could mean in the U.S. Derek grew up knowing that America was a place reserved for white Europeans and sooner or later everybody else would have to leave. This is due to how he was trying to avoid the views that his father as a white supremacist. While being a white nationalist, Derek black didn’t believe that white races were above all the others but Instead thought that their race shouldn’t be surrounded by others. He’s known for his suspicion of other races, the U.S. government, tap water, and pop culture. He was pulled out of a public school at the end of third grade by his parents because they heard his black teacher say “ain’t”. At age 10, he stated "it is a shame how many White minds are wasted in that system”[1]. He was also pro-choice on abortion, but he was against the death penalty. He had no affiliation, nor did he believe the KKK or Nazism or white supremacy. Derek Black tried to let people know that there was a difference between white nationalism and white supremacy. Although he was mainly concerned with “massive immigration and forced integration” and how it would lead to white genocide [1]. One of his main beliefs was that he respected rights of all races but felt that they would be better off in its own homeland, not living together.

In May of 2013, Derek black started to befriend several Jewish people. He had realized that his beliefs were wrong. After attending multiple gathering on Friday's nights with Jewish friends. So, Derek made a public statement stating how he grew up in a neighborhood that was founded on white nationalism. While members of his family were white nationalists, his father who he respected greatly was one as well. Derek was very hesitant to “drive a wedge” in between the relationship of not only him and his family members but also him and his father[1] [2] [3] https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2018/12/04/how-derek-black-went-golden-boy-white-nationalism-outspoken-critic/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.24a4e08df77a.

When his father, Donald Black, saw this he began to distance himself from Derek not being sure on whether to defend him or to shun him completely. Even though Derek tried convincing his father on his beliefs, he failed[1] [2] [3] https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2018/12/04/how-derek-black-went-golden-boy-white-nationalism-outspoken-critic/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.24a4e08df77a.

He hosted a radio show to let people know what his views were. Donald Black paid 275 dollars each week to have it broadcast on the AM station while Derek spread the idea of white genocide and how it has caused whites to lose their culture and traditions to massive non-white immigration. He implemented this same idea on his interviews, Stormfront posts and during his speech at the conference in Memphis.
