Derek Chiu

Derek Chiu Sung-Kee (Chinese: 趙崇基 born 1961) is a veteran filmmaker from Hong Kong. As of 2018, he has directed 18 feature films, including his latest film No.1 Chung Ying Street which won the Grand Prix at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in March, 2018.[1]

Derek started his career in TV and directed over 30 TV drama series and telemovies in the 1980s and 1990s.[2]

He studied Foreign Languages and Literatures at the National Taiwan University. He is currently an associate professor at the School of Creative Media in the City University of Hong Kong.[1]

Derek served as producer on Mad World (2016).[1]

The acclaimed film won multiple awards, including best new director for Wong Chun at both the Golden Horse Awards and the Hong Kong Film Awards.

"72 Heroes" (aka 72 Martyrs) 72 Heroes (2011) was named outstanding film at the Macau International Movie and TV Festival.[1]
