Derek Edward Sitter is an American actor, director, acting instructor, film producer and owner of Volcanic Theatre Pub. He has appeared on film in Gunshy, The Murder in the China Basin, Dr. Rage (The Straun House). Sitter has performed on television series' ER (TV series), Chicago Hope, Presidio Med, Zoey 101, and Nowhere Man and on a made for television movie .
Early life[edit]
Sitter (born September 4, 1967) was born in McAlester, Oklahoma to John Sitter and Dale Sitter.
Education[edit]
Derek has attended Eastern Oklahoma State College where he received his Associate degree in Communications (1986-1989) and then from Northeastern State University he earned his Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Communications, Journalism, and Advertising. Derek went on to receive his Masters of Fine Arts for Acting from (1991-1994) from Louisiana State University.
Personal life[edit]
Sitter married Jeanne in 1996 and has one daughter.
Career[edit]
Sitter was known for his 2001 theatrical performance in the national premier of Joe Pintauro’s “The Dead Boy”.[1][2][3]
Sitter has appeared in Gunshy with Sandra Bullock and Liam Neeson,[4] The Murder in the China Basin,[4] Dr. Rage (The Straun House) with Karen Black.[5]
He has also appeared on hit TV shows like ER (TV series),[4][6] Chicago Hope, Presidio Med,[4][6][7] and Zoey 101,[4]Nowhere Man with Bruce Greenwood[4] and the made for television movie "In the Line of Duty: Blaze of Glory"[4][8] with Bruce Campbell.
In 1999, Sitter auditioned for the famous The Actors Studio and was accepted on his first attempt.[citation needed]
In 2008, Sitter moved to Bend, Oregon where he began the fringe theatre Volcanic Theatre and his own Actor’s Studio “The Actor’s Realm.” [9]
Sitter wrote and acted in Second Sleep.[10]
