Early Years[edit]
Derin, who's mother is a former basketball player [1], was introduced to basketball when she was only 6 years old.[1] Derin Yaya, who joined the TED Kolej basketball team in the 3rd grade of primary school, went to her first tournament the next year.[2] While playing in all age groups under the TED Ankara Kolejliler uniform, she won the youth local league titles in Ankara [2] and appeared in the Turkish Championships every year. [2] After her youth career, she had the chance to play in the senior team with the TED Ankara Kolejliler uniform.[2]
Professional Career[edit]
TED Ankara Kolejliler[edit]
She started to play in the TED Ankara Kolejliler senior team in the 2013-2014 season [3] and she played in 16 games in the first season of his professional career. Derin played 23 games in TKB2L in the 2014-2015 season [3] , averaging 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. In the 2015-2016 season, playing in 23 games in TKBL with the TED Ankara Kolejliler,[4] with her averages of 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.0 steals. In the 2016-2017 season, which is the last season of her with TED Ankara Kolejliler, she played 42 games in the TKBL and TKBL Federation Cup, [5] averaging 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Cankaya Universitesi[edit]
Derin Yaya signed a contract with another Ankara team, Cankaya Universitesi at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.[6] In her first season here, Derin played in 38 games [7] and averaged 12.9 points, 5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.21 steals. In the 2018-2019 season, Derin Yaya, who averaged 15.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 30 games in TKBL,[8].became the champion with Cankaya Universitesi in TKBL and promoted to KBSL. In the 2019-2020 season, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she finished the season with 6.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 18 games in the Women's Basketball Super League.[10]
Hatay Buyuksehir Belediyespor[edit]
At the beginning of the 2020-2021 season, she signed a contract with Hatay Buyuksehir Belediyespor, one of the Women's Basketball Super League teams.[11]. Derin Yaya, who played 26 games here, [12]. played an important role in promoting her team to the play-offs with 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Also she played 3 games in EuroCup Women with 2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. [13]
Bellona Kayseri Basketbol[edit]
Although he started the 2021-2022 season in Kayseri Basketball, he left the team on November 4, 2021. She played 3 games in the Women's Basketball Super League, 2 games in the EuroLeague Women qualifying round and 3 games in the EuroCup Women with the Kayseri Basketbol.
Cankaya Universitesi[edit]
Derin left Kayseri Basketball in November 2021 and she started to play for her former team, Çankaya University. Derin Yaya, who played 25 games with the Çankaya University jersey in the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League in the 2021-2022 season with an average of 28.1 minutes, 8.52 points, 3.32 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
Nesibe Aydın GSK[edit]
At the beginning of the 2022-2023 season, she signed an agreement with Nesibe Aydın, one of the Women's Basketball Super League teams.
