Derrick LeBlanc (born May 6th, 1974) is an American football coach who is currently the defensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins after spending 21 seasons coaching at the collegiate level.[1]

Early years

Derrick LeBlanc was a four-year letterman (1992-96) at Northwestern State where he played both offensive and defensive line. As a junior and senior, he earned Southland Conference All-Academic team honors. LeBlanc graduated with a degree in business administration. He also earned a master's degree in sports administration from LSU.[1]

Coaching career

College

His first collegiate coaching position came as a graduate assistant at LSU in 2000. LeBlanc then went on to coach the defensive line at Henderson State (2001-04), Arkansas Tech (2005), Missouri State (2006-07) before becoming an assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at LSU from 2008-11. LeBlanc returned to coaching the defensive line in 2012 as a member of the Wyoming Cowboys football staff and later at Southern Miss (2013-2014). While at Southern Miss, LeBlanc helped develop two NFL draft picks – defensive tackle Khyri Thornton, who earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in 2013 and was a third-round pick (85th overall) by Green Bay in the 2014 NFL Draft, and defensive tackle Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, who earned first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2014 and was a sixth-round pick (217th overall) by Kansas City in the 2015 NFL Draft. In 2015, LeBlanc became defensive coordinator/defensive line coach at Pearl River Community College. LeBlanc returned to D1 college football in 2016 to coach the defensive line at North Texas, before subsequently moving on to coach the same position at Kentucky (2017-2019) and Arkansas (2020).[1]

Miami Dolphins

In 2021, LeBlanc was hired as the assistant defensive line coach by the Miami Dolphins under head coach Mike McDaniel, marking his first season coaching at the NFL level.[1][2]

Arizona Cardinals

In February 2022, LeBlanc joined the Arizona Cardinals as their defensive line coach.[3]

Personal Life

He and his wife, Niema, have two sons, Dayton and Derrick, and one daughter, Kennedy[4]
