Design trend
A design trend is the tendency of product or software designers to follow a similar design pattern.
Examples[edit]
Examples of such are mobile phones with screen notches, non-replaceable batteries and sacrificing battery capacity for slimmer design (form over function).
A design trend can also have positive outcomes such as the wide adaption dark themes in the years 2018 and 2019 on many web sites, programs and operating systems. It is a native[note 1] option to toggle to bright text on a dark background, for reducing eye strain and AMOLED display power consumption.
Notes[edit]
- ↑ A native option is one built into the website or software. A dark theme on websites can also be achieved using custom CSS code or dedicated browser add-ons. Some browsers such as Samsung S Browser have built-in functionality. Anotjer possibility for any user interface colour inversion, which some operating systems require additional software for. A disadvantage of such is the colour inversion of pictures.
