Desvesetlanocide

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Desvesetlanocide is an intentional action to remove and destroy settlements of indigenous people, ostensibly for the cause of development. Desvesetlanocide is usually done by a government, corporate entity, or military group, not by one person or a small number of people in power. Usually, the motivation for desvesetlanocide is based on construction projects on the lands of indigenous people without their consent. [1]

The word desvesetlanocide was made up by the Newa movement and the Save Nepa Valley Movement. The word was coined during activism related to protesting the displacement of indigenous people in the name of development. The word has started to be used excessively in those circles.
