Early life and education[edit]

Ricks grew up on the westside of Baltimore, MD with his three brothers, parents and a Shiba Inu. At the young age of 11; Devin has always been fascinated with the entertainment industry. [8] Over the years, Ricks became fond with editing, writing, directing, and producing his own film projects. He did a little bit of acting too during that time.

In his adult years, he pursued college & graduated from Morgan State University (May of 2013) obtaining a Bachelor's of Science Degree In Broadcasting and Integrated Media/Video Production. [9]

Devin has a few entrepreneurial endeavors that furthered his aspirations in the industry. He has done several film projects and has been on Hollywood movie sets. In 2021, his most recent project, "Love Cycle: Situations PT. I" was featured in AMC Theaters within the eastern region. [10][11] Alongside filmmaking, Ricks launched his own media platform Dev TV! and his clothing/lifestyle brand The DJR Experience. [6]

In 2017, Ty Hunter; designer & stylist to the iconic Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, wore his clothing line under The DJR Experience during New York Fashion week. Later in 2018 (on TV), cast members from the hit VH1 reality TV show, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta showcased the line as well during the season's 7th cycle run. [12][13]

During his time at Morgan State University, Ricks launched his production company Devin J. Ricks Productions, [14] where he displays his filmmaking and videography skills; which grew expeditiously after graduating from college. [15]

Ricks later created the media/streaming company Dev TV!, [16] which pushed him forward in doing coverage for BET, in association with VH1 & MTV, and other projects within the media industry. [17] With that avenue peaking, he was able to take his media outlet nationally & internationally covering music festivals & events that bring eccentric cultures to special communities.

Summer 2022, Dev TV! went viral when R&B sensation Mario featured the platform during his highly anticipated return (musical number) during the Thriller/Verzuz Battle. [18] Later that year, Dev TV! announced the release of The After Party; a nostalgic cross between the fan favorite throwback television shows 106 & Park and TRL (Total Request Live). [19][20] The show became popular on the Dev TV! social media platform. [21]

In 2022, Ricks ventured with iHeart Media as the market's Promotions Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland. [22] Be on the lookout because the young mogul is on the rise and ready to inspire, motivate, and further out humanities.
