Plot[edit]

Ghelo (played by Kay Kay Menon) lives in western Kutch between sea line and the desert. He has one camel and couple of Bhunga (type of earthen house found in Kutch region), an aesthetically good living place. Ghelo befriend the caretaker of the nearby port, a government employee named Pranjivan (Sandeep Kulkarni) and invites him to his Vandh (village). Ghelo is strong believer of strength and power. He believes that one need to have more strength than others to survive in this world.

After Pranjivan loses his job, he reaches to Ghela’s village to meet him. There he comes to know that Ghelo is actually a dacoit and has three wives. His previous two wives live in a mediocre house nearby as they were not able to deliver a child. Internally knowing about his own impotency but desperate to have children, Ghelo lifts a young girl Monghi (Nandita Das) from her house after fighting and hitting her father.

Shocked by Ghela’s reality, Pranjivan tries to accommodate with him and finds that there is continuous rift between Ghela and Monghi. Pranjivan start roaming around the village with Juslo (Raghuvir Yadav). Juslo is Ghela’s friend and his partner in crime. Pranjivan even meets Ghela’s previous wives Dhanbai (Sujata Mehta) and Ratani and listens to their feelings.

Ghelo continuously make Pranjivan feel that he is strong and Pranjivan is cowardly. Ghelo believes that the only way to live in this hostile land is the way he is living. Resources in this land are so scarce that the person who has power only can survive. This land does not show any mercy to the people living on it so there is no space for feelings, emotions, sympathy in human heart in this part of the world. Ghelo tells Pranjivan to accompany him in his next ‘Dhaad’ (robbery). Probably he wants to put on an ultimate show of his supremacy in front of Pranjivan.

Pranjivan not agreeing to Ghela’s robbery plan tries to leave but Ghelo forcibly stops him. Finally Ghelo and Pranjivan go on a robbery to nearby village to a local businessman who has his pregnant daughter visiting his house for a social function. She confronts Ghela during the raid. Ghela’s intention melts after knowing that she is pregnant. What happens next, need to be seen in the movie.
