Diana Alva

Diana Alva is a Detroit artist and ceramacist, born and raised in Mexicantown in Southwest Detroit.[1] She has been creating ceramic works of art since the 1980's and painting since the 1990's. She formed has formed multiple companies, including the Michigan Gallery, and the Detroit Clay Company.[2] Ms. Alva studied at Henry Ford Community College and Wayne State University. She first professionally created ceramics at Pewabic Pottery, though she learned crafting and personal manufacturing from her father growing up, as he repaired and made many products by hand.[3] She has professionally been associated and sold her works through the Hannan Center, the Detroit Artists Market, the Zeitgeist Detroit, the Grosse Pointe Artists Association, and the Scarab Club. Her work was also included in the film 8 Mile.[4]
