Diana Patricia Comte Selman is a Chilean geophysicist and full professor of the Geophysics Department at the University of Chile.[1][2] Since 1999, she has been the director of research and development of the Advanced Mining Technology Center.[1][3] She is also the vice president of the Latin American and Caribbean Seismological Commission.[4]

Biography[edit]

Comte obtained her magister degree in geophysics from the University of Chile in 1987 and her PhD in Seismology and Physics of the Earth Interior from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1993.[2][5] She contributed to a community-wide coordinated to record aftershocks of a the magnitude 8.8 earthquake that occurred off the coast of Chile on February 27, 2010.[6]

Research interests[edit]

Comte's research focuses on seismotectonics, seismic hazard and local earthquake tomography in Peru and Chile.[1][7][8]
