Diana Hopeson (also known as Diana Akiwumi) is Ghanaian gospel singer[1] and a former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana.[2]

Biography[edit]

Hopeson was born on August 30, 1970, in Accra to Francis Arhin and Hannah Amoo, the last of seven children. She attended Winneba Secondary School and studied theatre art at the University of Ghana and also attended a needs assessment class at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. She holds an advanced international certificate course of IP Panorama Multimedia Contents of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, World Intellectual Property Organization, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and the Korean Invention Promotion Association. Hopeson participated in the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development IP Programs in Africa. A graduate of the Christian Leaders Institute as well as Youth with a Mission’s College of Arts and Spots of the University of the Nations, Kona-Hawaii, USA and the University of Education Winneba in guidance and counseling.[3]

Hopeson is a missionary, recording and performing artist with nine albums. She has traveled extensively as a minstrel and an itinerant minister of music and a conference speaker. As a Lausanne Arts Catalyst at Large, her mission is to help enlighten church leaders to embrace artistic Christians for ministries in the church and world mission. She is the chief executive officer of GHMusic Publishing and Management. She is a board member of the Ghana Music Rights Owners Society of Ghana (Ghana Music Rights Organization) and has been instrumental in making policies for the creative industry, especially music, and has served on other national boards and committees including the National Theatre, Copyright Owners Society of Ghana (which is now the Ghana Music Rights Organization), the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and the National Intellectual Property Policy Committee. She is the deputy director of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation, a guest minister at the Fountain Gate Chapel, Accra, and a patron for the University Gospel Choir of the Year Ghana.
