Diane James Designs is a luxury faux flower arrangement company based in Norwalk, Connecticut. The company was founded by Diane James and is run by her twin daughters, Cynthia Matrullo and Carolyn McDonough. It specializes in designing and producing handmade bouquets that are sold at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, through interior designers, and on online marketplaces.

History

Founding

Though Diane James began arranging real flowers in the 1960s, her passion for designing bouquets with artificial flowers began after her house was on the market in 1987, and she didn't have enough time to make new live arrangements each week. Her first arrangement was for a friend, who eventually encouraged her to start her own business. In the early to mid-1990s, James continued to create arrangements for charity auctions and friends.[1] Diane James had her first big break in 1997, when after founding the company in the same year, Bergdorf Goodman launched her first collection.[2]

2000s to Now

Cynthia Matrullo and Carolyn McDonough each left their corporate jobs in 1997 and 1999, respectively, to help grow Diane James Designs.[3] Over the next decade, Diane James Designs grew larger and began selling to different stores, including Neiman Marcus. In 2014, Diane James Designs launched BLOOMS, a more affordable line of faux flower arrangements.

Products

Diane James herself designs the silk flower arrangements for the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collections, and the bouquets are made-to-order in Norwalk, Connecticut. Diane James Designs also sells scented candles and other gifts on its website.

Notable Clients

Diane James Designs products have been used on set for Gossip Girl,[3] and Gotham.
