Diary of a Freedom Writer: The Experience is a 2013 non-fiction, memoir by Darrius Garrett.[1] The book was first published on August 6, 2013 through Tate Publishing and follows Garrett's life from 1989 to 2011.
Synopsis[edit]
The book focuses on Garrett's childhood and his desire to achieve a better life for himself. He spent a portion of his life hustling and selling drugs on the street, but began to change his life after joining with a group of students that called themselves the Freedom Writers, led by teacher Erin Gruwell.
