Didi Derriere is an English Dancer and burlesque performer.
Early years[edit]
Didi grew up in Sheffield, England.
Performance[edit]
When Didi first moved to London, she studied Musical Theatre at Millennium on a musical theatre degree which she completed. As soon as the extremely talented dancer had graduated, she fell pregnant with her first born. She decided to keep the child against all odds. Fascinated with the performance art and burlesque, Didi was missing the world of dance and performance very much; her partner decided to surprise her with a burlesque course at "the cheek of it" school of Burlesque & Cabaret[1] so she could have a bit of fun, low and behold she fell in love with the art and actually gave her first live performance at Madam Jojo's in 2013 while pregnant. The start of a burlesque performance career had begun.
Didi had taken time off after her performance to concentrate on being a mother, she taught some dance movement classes when she had spare time and focused on getting back onto the stage which is her first true love. Didi decided to enter the House of Burlesque "Burlesque Idol"[2] competition in 2014, she went on to win her heat and subsequently the entire competition; she was Crowned Burlesque Idol in 2014 at which point she found out she was pregnant again.
Didi carried on working on her acts and costumes and worked her way back into performing at the same time as building her own brand. She started performing the "Folly Mixtures"[3] London's leading Burlesque Troupe. She secured a residencies at some of London's leading Burlesque & Cabaret Venues.
Didi was featured in the Guardian newspaper [4] review of Proud Cabaret
She has gone on to perform all over Europe.
