The Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) is not-for-Profit trade association for the diesel fuel industry in the United States. It was formed in 2000 and headquartered in Frederick, MD.[1][2] Members of the DTF include some of the biggest manufacturers of both diesel fuel and diesel vehicles in the world (or their American subsidiaries). Notable members included Caterpillar, John Deere, Daimler AG, Chrysler, General Motors, Isuzu Motors, Mazda, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Volvo.[3]
History
Founded in 2000, the DTF was created to bring together diesel users, public and environmental interest groups, and government officials.[1]Founding members of the DTF include Caterpillar,[find more founders].
2019
Renewable Energy Group Inc. (REG), a North American producer of bio-diesel, joins the DTF. REG Vice President of Sales and Marketing told NGTNews, [4]
"REG is thrilled to join Diesel Technology Forum in their dedicated initiative to promote awareness about the importance of diesel engines, fuel and technology"
— Gary Haer, REG Vice President of Sales and Marketing, NGTNews
Activities
The DTF regularly participates in legislative and regulatory deliberations, technology demonstrations, and industry and media events.[1]
2020
On March 11, 2020, Executive Director Allen R. Schrieffer appeared before the Maryland House Committee for Economic Matters in opposition to HB1124. The bill, titled "Consumer Protection - Right to Repair," would require an original equipment manufacturer to make available, on certain terms, certain materials or updates to an independent repair provider or owner of digital electronic equipment.[5] Schrieffer argued that the bill would allow people to modify diesel vehicles, making them dangerous to the environment and dangerous to operate.[6]
2015
Executive Director Allen R. Schrieffer testified in front of the EPA and NHTSA on the future of greenhouse gas and fuel efficiency standards. Schrieffer described the importance of diesel power and how it will remain the dominate power source for commercial trucking.[7]
