DigiPas USA LLC is the US affiliate of the Ventura Group, based in Avon, Connecticut. The company develops and manufactures security technologies and measuring equipment,[1] and proximity based electronic locks.[2] Its affiliated offices are located in Japan, UK, Germany and Singapore.[3] The group employs more than 1,000 people worldwide.[1]
Background
The company was founded by CEO Jim Li (Hui-Hong JK Li) in 1993,[1][4][5] and is in the business of research and development of planar-tilt Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) precision leveling, 2D angular measurements and intelligent proximity access-gaining security technologies. As of January 2016, Li held 30 patents in his field,[2] and is a founder of the Ventura Group (1992) and JSB Tech Singapore (2002).[1] He has served as a panel member of the Economic Strategies Committee for Singapore.[6]
Instruments
DigiPas develops and manufactures digital levels and inclinometers to replace the use of traditional single-axis spirit levels, the digital levels are able to provide leveling status (zero degree) and any numeric angular readings within 14,400 arcseconds.[7][8]
eGeeTouch
The eGeeTouch division,[9] develops and markets the eGeeTouch Near Field Communication (NFC) smart electronic locks and intelligent access security systems for various applications. The eGeeTouch Smart NFC Padlock is the first patented device of its type.[2]
The smart locks work by unlocking once an NFC enabled device (such as a smartphone), an NFC device, smart tag, or traditional mechanical key. [9][10] Access records can be retrieved,[citation needed] rain and moisture considerations are factored in, and backup power is provided via USB port for dead battery conditions.[11] The luggage locks are compliant with IATA, TSA, and ICAO regulations.[12][13]
In a field of over 3600 presenters,[14] DigiPas was one of 14,[15] Tech for a Better World award winners, for its EgeeTouch Smart Luggage Lock at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). [12][16] The product was featured in the Technology Fox News article, "8 of the most innovative products at CES designed to keep you safe".[17]
