Dimitri Cervo (born February 19, 1968) is a Brazilian musician and composer.[1]
Biography[edit]
Cervo´s compositions, which include Toro-Lobiana, Canauê, Pattapiana, and Abertura Brasil 2012, have been widely performed in Brazil and abroad. As a frequent performer and conductor of his own works, Cervo has collaborated with various ensembles and orchestras. His main musical education took place in Brazil, Italy (Sienna), and the USA (Seattle). He is currently an associate professor at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul Music Department.[2] Pianist Richard Steinbach played Cervo´s Tema para Filme I at the performance premiere of his album FUSION at Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) on June 12, 2015.[3] The composer was a winner of the Aliénor Competition in 2000[4] for his piece Pequena Suíte Brasileira, which was recorded by Elaine Funaro (harpsichord) for Centaur Records.[5] Cervo´s Toro-Lobiana has been performed by BoCoCelli, a cello ensemble at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee coached by Rhonda Rider.[6]) Cármelo de los Santos premiered Suíte Brasileira for solo violin at the Fourth Villa-Lobos International Chamber Music Festival, held in California. [7] Cervo´s Pattapiana, for solo flute and strings, was presented at the 2003 Biennial Festival of Brazilian Contemporary Music, held in Rio de Janeiro.[8]
