Dinesh Chandwani (born February 14, 1989) is the founder of the Walnut School of Ideas, a professional skydiver, author of "Emeg - A Face Off with Fear", and a motivational speaker.
Career
Dinesh Chandwani was born February 14, 1989, in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, the son of Dr. Gopichand Narayandas Chandwani and Shashi Kanta Chandwani. Dinesh Chandwani completed high school with a minor in science. He graduated from G.H Raisoni College of Engineering with a B.A. in Engineering and decided to study abroad for further education.
While working on his M.A. at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, he discovered the thrill of extreme sports, including skydiving and surfing. Despite a successful and apparently fulfilling job as an HR manager, he quit to return to Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, with the purpose of "making people realize that there are not just two options after pursuing Science, there are a lot more."
Together with his cousin Nikhil Chandwani, he began work on The Walnut School of Ideas as a way of encouraging Indian students to follow their passions. Around this time, he also won second prize in 'SEED Maha IT Idol 2014,' a competition in computer knowledge and programming. [1] Still seeking adventure, Chandwani decided to publish his first book at the age of 29, "Emeg - A Face Off with Fear", as a way of reliving the adventure and recapturing the thrill of trying something new. [2] [3]
Plans for the Future
For now, Chandwani says he plans to focus on education. Currently advocating for the need for innovation in the Indian education system, he appeared in a TED Talk on October 12, 2017, and February 25, 2017. He is also scheduled to appear on a TED Talk on March 10, 2018, and again on April 29, 2018. [4]
