Early Life[edit]

Dr. Dinesh Shahra was born on December 9, 1962, in Rajasthan, India. He received his early education in Rajasthan and later moved to Mumbai to pursue higher education. Dr. Shahra earned a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Mumbai University and later received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.


After completing his MBA, Dr. Shahra returned to India and joined his family's business, Ruchi Soya Industries Limited. He played a key role in transforming the company from a small trading business to one of the largest edible oil manufacturers in India. Under his leadership, the company diversified its product portfolio and expanded its operations to several countries around the world.

Apart from his business career, Dr. Shahra is also known for his philanthropic work. He has been actively involved in promoting sustainable agriculture and has established several charitable organizations that focus on providing education, healthcare, and other basic necessities to underprivileged communities in India.

Yellow Revolution[edit]

Dr. Shahra is considered as a foremost authority in the agriculture sector in India, with the beginning of the Yellow Revolution that transformed Madhya Pradesh into the ‘soya bowl of the country’ being credited to his name. DSF- Dinesh Shahra Foundation The Dinesh Shahra Foundation (DSF) was founded out of gratitude for all the knowledge capital Dinesh Shahra has gained over the last 50 years. It strives to create a value-based social structure based on the Indian or Sanatan ethos. The Foundation is built with an intention to ‘Give Back’ to the entities responsible for society’s material and spiritual development. Spirituality, sustainability, and education, along with women and child health, are the core causes of DSF.

Education DSF has been working with Mr. Shahra’s alma-mater Harcourt Butler Technical University Kanpur to give scholarships and gainful employment to meritorious students. Dinesh Shahra Foundation has also been giving scholarships to students of St. Paul Higher Secondary Indore for their excellence in sports as well as academics. DSF identifies deserving candidates and offers monetary grants to help build resilient youth and emerging India.

Sustainability Green Gold Day Green Gold Day is a Nationwide initiative of DSF to plant trees and pledge for its caring and urge others to join in the movement.
