Dr. Dinesh Shahra was born on December 9, 1962, in Rajasthan, India. He received his early education in Rajasthan and later moved to Mumbai to pursue higher education. Dr. Shahra earned a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Mumbai University and later received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

After completing his MBA, Dr. Shahra returned to India and joined his family's business, Ruchi Soya Industries Limited.
