The director of the dignitary protection service of Lithuania is the head of the Dignitary Protection Service of Lithuania, which is responsible for ensuring the security of designated individuals—such as the President, the Speaker of the Seimas, the Prime Minister, and other key officials—as well as the protection of important state buildings and diplomatic missions both in Lithuania and, to a limited extent, abroad.[1]
Appointment
The Director is appointed by the President of Lithuania for a five-year term, with the approval of the Seimas. This position is part of Lithuania's intelligence and national security apparatus, with responsibilities that include counterintelligence, intelligence gathering, and the protection of state secrets.
