Disappearance of Jessica O'Grady

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Jessica Jo O'Grady is an American woman from Omaha, Nebraska who has been missing since May 10, 2006. Shortly after her disappearance, police found large amounts of her blood in her boyfriend's house. Her body has never been found. Her disappearance has received a large amount of media coverage and was featured on an episode of Forensic Files and the Investigation Discovery series Hometown Homicide.[1][2]

Background[edit]

At the time of her disappearance, O'Grady was 19 years old and a student at the University of Nebraska Omaha. She lived in an apartment with two roommates and worked at a restaurant. She was dating Christopher Edwards.[3]

Disappearance[edit]

On the night of May 10, 2006, O'Grady left her apartment and told her roommates that she was going to her boyfriend's house. This was the last time she was seen or heard from. Calls to her phone went to voicemail. Several days later, her car was found abandoned across the street from her workplace.[4]

Investigation[edit]

After O'Grady's car was discovered, police visited the home of Christopher Edwards. They found a blood soaked mattress and several other bloodstains in his bedroom. Several of the stains had been covered up with correction fluid and other materials. They also found bloodstains in the trunk of his car and on a Bangkok battle sword. It was confirmed through DNA testing that the blood was O'Grady's. Police obtained surveillance footage that showed Edwards purchasing cleaning supplies at an Omaha Walgreens on the night O'Grady disappeared.[5][6]

Trial[edit]

Edwards was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. He has unsuccessfully tried to appeal his sentence multiple times.[7][8]

As of 2022, the location of Jessica's body remains unknown.
