Distant is a European deathcore/metal band from Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Bratislava, Slovakia.[1] The group debuted with an EP titled Tsukuyomi in 2017.[2] and followed up two years later with a full-length album, Tyrannotophia.[3][4] The band is currently signed to Unique Leader Records and has toured through Europe and the United Kingdom.[5]
History
Right from their start in 2014, the dedicated formation by the name of Distant started touring through Europe, directly followed by the release of their first EP “Slither” in 2015.[6] In early 2017, they started a new chapter with the addition of vocalist Alan Grnja (former Shrill Whispers).[7] This was followed by the release of their debut EP Tsukuyomi in the summer of 2017.[8] Five European tours followed, bringing the Distant bulldozer to full speed and paving the way for them to become a well-known band within their genre. Their first full-length album Tyrannotophia was published in June 2019 under Unique Leader Records and appeared in all major record stores around the world.[9][10]
In 2020, the band was joined by Jan Mato on drums (also former Shrill Whispers[11]) and Eise Smit on guitar (former Rising Conflict[12]), completing their line-up. The first EP in a series around the lore of Tyrannotophia was released, bearing the name "Dawn Of Corruption".[13] This EP was received by the metal community with great success, earning them the "Best Track of 2020" award by the Rotterdam Music Awards for their song Hellmouth.[14]
In 2021, the lore-derived musical story continued with the squealing EP Dusk Of Anguish, released in March 2021.[15]
