Diva Tyler is an American actress, activist, and speaker, best known for her supporting role as Sondra Dickerson in Halloween (2018) and its two sequels Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022).
Life and Career
Tyler was born in Florida and began her acting career in Harlem, New York at the age of 16, starring in numerous stage productions, along with participating as a member of The American Negro Ensemble Theatre, founded by Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. As a stage actress, she appeared in productions such as the one-woman show "Sweet Chariot" which tells the life story of Harriet Tubman from the age of 5 to 93, "Wait Until Dark" an Off-Broadway production adaptation of the film of the same name in the role of Susy Hendrix, a blind woman who is stalked by henchmen in search of contraband, and the award-winning stage production of "For Colored Girls..." as the Lady in Purple.[1][2]
In the mainstream, Tyler has made appearances in films and television shows including Eastbound and Down (2012), starring Will Ferrell and Danny McBride, Let It Shine (2012) starring Courtney Vance and Tyler James Williams, Local Talent (2012) with Nathan Lane, horror film Prosper (2014), Single Ladies (2012) starring Lisa Raye, a recurring role in Being Mary Jane (2014-2015), Survivor's Remorse (2015) as well as Constantine (2014) and the comedy film Identity Thief (2013), starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman, Captive (2015), starring David Oyelowo, and The Last Exorcism Part II (2013). In 2018, Tyler had a small role as Sondra in Halloween (2018), a role which she reprised and was expanded in Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022)[3]
Activism
Tyler is actively involved in the areas of sexual child abuse prevention and commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), and has volunteered for "youthSpark" as a supporter. She created and facilitated a successful therapeutic poetry workshop for juvenile offenders of Dekalb County for a period of three years. In 2009-2010, she volunteered and worked with rescued children in South America.

Tyler currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
