Patrick Michael Ayobami, professionally known as Dj Micky, also referred to as Engineer Mike, is a Nigerian Disc Jockey, computer Engineer, producer, graphic artiste, record promoter and a blogger.
EARLY LIFE
Patrick Michael Ayobami was born on July 7, 1993, in Lagos State, to Nigerian parents. His father, Mr. Patrick, is currently a serving officer of the Nigerian Police Force.
Born in the suburb of Lagos State, he attended Meiran Community Primary School, Ile-iwe, where he completed his basic education. Further, he attended Ijaiye Ojokoro Senior High School, Ifako Ijaiye, where he completed his secondary education in 2009. He enrolled at a computer institute (Interalia Network Systems) the same year, where he graduated with a Diploma in Desktop Publishing, gathering his basic knowledge of the computer. He interned at the institution and became a certified computer operator in 2010. Moving on, in 2011 he enrolled at Total Freedom Technologies (Computer Specialist) at Ola-Ayeni Street (Computer Village), Ikeja, Lagos, there he graduated with a Certificate in Computer Engineering.
He has since then worked as an Engineer for various computer firms and centres around Lagos before he became employed as a computer Engineer, Operator, Instructor and the Head of the Internet Department at Aplus Business Bureau, Ijaiye in 2012.
He got admitted into the department of Business Administration, Olabisi Onabanjo University. He is currently a final year student.
DJ CAREER
Dj Micky grew up listening to various genres of music including hip-hop, pop, juju, fuji, afro beat, jazz, RnB, soul, gospel, Islamic. He began DJing right from his computer days where he would record mixes using Virtual DJ on personal computer. He basically got people dancing in the neighborhood by making and playing his mixes from a barber's shop. Soon he became popular and started attending shows and club parties in his environs. He worked with various music promoters and Top DJs in Nigeria which included Dj Baddo, Dj Moremuzic, Dj Real, this which led to his online recognition.
He released his first mix tape DJ Micky Reloaded in 2012 which got massive cheers online. In 2016, he released another mix PANA MIXTAPE a compilation of songs which features several Nigerian artistes including Tekno, Ycee, Kizz Daniel, Patoranking, Dj Baddo, 9ice, Skales, Davido, Olamide, Dj Kaywise among others. In 2017 Dj Micky released several online and offline mixtapes which included The Froggy Ducky Mix, RnB Groove Mix, Best of Indigenous Rap Mix, The Post Independence Mix, to mention a few among others.
POLITICAL LIFE
While in the University at 300 level, DJ Micky vied for the office of the faculty social director, then the FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES which was as a result of the mergence of 12 departments was on the verge of been demerged and thus a general election was not possible, the option of an in-house election was adopted.
