Doctorate of Medicine

Doctorate of Medicine (abbreviated D.M.) is a medical degree of India which has three years course in different specialties of medicine.[1]It is an advanced program in the medical field.[2] A candidate successfully completing this course gets a Post Graduate Super Speciality Degree. The candidates enrolled in the Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course attain theoretical knowledge, and clinical and practical skills, develop the right attitude for communication and are also trained in research methodology. AIIMS and PGIMER are among the oldest colleges offering DM courses in India.

This course is considered equivalent to a PhD programme. DM courses are only available to those who have completed a post-graduate degree in medical science, Doctor of Medicine. This course has also been started in medical colleges of Nepal.[3]
