Doctorlink has built a health technology platform that uses a clinical decision algorithm which covers 95% of conditions and can diagnose how acute a condition is.[2]
The algorithm is classed as a medical equipment device and has been regularly updated during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
The company offers three main solutions: online triage, which assesses symptoms and directs patients to the most appropriate healthcare pathway; health risk assessment, which provides health risk profiling and preventative tools; and video consultation, which offers clinical-patient interactions via video, referred to as "remote consultations", with doctors and clinicians. Its video consultation solution is one of the NHS's assured video consultation systems and complies with the GP IT Futures framework.[4]
Doctorlink is one of the 34 approved suppliers on the NHS's Dynamic Purchasing System Framework, which means it complies with the Online Consultations technical standards for clinical commissioning groups and sustainability and transformation partnerships.[5]

Doctorlink was founded by Eight Roads in 2016. Its services are now available to more than 12.5 million NHS patients in over 1,500 GP clinics across England.[6] Rupert Spiegelberg was appointed CEO in September 2019.[7]
In April 2020, Doctorlink was one of the companies chosen by the NHS to provide video consultation services to GP surgeries during the COVID-19 outbreak.[8]
Commenting on the company's performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, CEO Rupert Spiegelberg stated in an interview in May 2020 that Doctorlink's "active user base has almost quadrupled over the last six months and GP surgery uptake has grown by a third in the last quarter".[9]
