The Dodeka Keyboard Design is a musical keyboard layout featuring a linear and isomorphic configuration of keys.

Concept

Invented and designed by Jacques-Daniel Rochat, the Dodeka Keyboard Design is a piano keyboard with a single row of keys set in a straight linear fashion.[1][2][3]. Four keys are highlighted to indicate the octaves. The rationale behind this layout is to bring a more rationale and chromatic approach to music and performance[4]. As an isomorphic keyboard and by equally spacing the keys on the layout, any musical sequence or interval on this layout has the same shape regardless of the key.

Relationship with Music notation

The Dodeka design was developed together with an alternative music notation: the Dodeka Music Notation[5][6][7].

Software

The keyboard layout is available for iOS devices: Dodeka Music[8]
