Dog Man is a 2016 American children's novel by Dav Pilkey, and the inaugural novel of the Dog Man series. The book is a spin-off of Pilkey's Captain Underpants series. It was published on August 30, 2016. In the novel, a police cop named Officer Knight and his pet dog Greg get injured in an explosion, and two nurses sew Greg's head onto Knight's body, creating the dog-human hybrid Dog Man. The book has spawned many sequels and a subseries known as Cat Kid Comic Club which is based after Dog Man: Fetch-22, the eighth book in the series.
