Dog Nigga, commonly censored as Dog Ningen, is an american manga-style comic created by DH Animations and illustrated by SerbianHero. It doesn't have any official serialization and is entirely self-published.

Plot[edit]

Rex, a hybrid dog-man akin to a weredog, is forced to fight different members of the criminal underworld and other low-lifes who want to eliminate him, all to reach his overarching goal of raping his missing father who he hates for causing his birth.[1] The main themes of the story are racism and discrimination but the story also covers themes such as sexual abuse, terrorism and school shootings.[2] In the second chapter when an assassin named Neo is sent to eliminate Rex, the protagonist thinks it's because he is perceived as a freak by society, though it is later revealed that the assassin was sent by Rex's own father, which starts Rex's and Neo's adventure after their fight.

Characters[edit]

Main Characters[edit]

Rex Wisconsin[1]

The focus character of the story, Rex is a dog-human hybrid who was born when his father, a human, forced himself into a female street dog. Rex's mother later dies after giving birth, leaving him alone to roam the streets as a homeless person. He declares his objective in the first chapter (raping his father) and fights everyone and anyone who tries to keep him from achieving this goal.

Neo

A cyborg and professional assassin sent by Rex's father who fights Rex to the death, until his penis gets bitten off by Rex and loses.[3] After the fight, him and Rex have a conversation about Neo's abusive childhood, which ends in Rex comforting Neo by implying that he should molest his father too, and although Neo doesn't seem to be on board with the idea, he becomes friends with Rex. Neo was raised to be an assassin by his abusive father, but he instead wanted to pursue a career in art and his parents beat him everytime they found him drawing.[4]

Antagonists[edit]

Da--- Wisconsin (Rex's Father)[5]

The overarching villain of the series. The few things known about him are that he's the leader of an organization that seeks achieving technology able to revive the dead. He sends multiple assassins like Neo and Trish to kill his son Rex. His full name is yet unknown.

Trish

A cat-woman hybrid and subordinate of Da--- Wisconsin, which is sent to kill Rex after the first assassin, Neo, fails to do so. She has black-hole powers[6] and was born as the offspring of a cat and a woman.[7]

Publication and Controversy[edit]

The series began as a webcomic in 2019, and it received a lot of mostly negative attention for its bold premise, offensive title, and themes such as rape, which pressured the author into censoring the series name to Dog Ningen. Still, most reviews of the comic[8][9] either praise the comedic aspect or criticize the portrayal of serious issues as jokes. The comic has had two printed runs and the first five volumes are still available for online purchase as of September 2024, though it is completely available to read for free on MangaDex, and many chapters have been translated unofficially into other languages such as Russian, French, Ukrainian and Spanish. An animated trailer for the comic is available on the official website and YouTube.
